Naval Aviation Museum Goa

The Naval Aviation Museum Goa is a huge project located in Bogmalo, which is 6 km away from Vasco da Gama. The museum aims at displaying and showcasing the evolution of the Indian Naval Air Arm over several years.

Its first opened to visitors in the month of October 1998 and is till now considered to be the only Naval Aviation Museum of its kind in the whole of Asia.

This extraordinary museum consists of two main parts. First, the outdoor exhibit which holds several used aircraft which were once part of the Naval force of India, and the indoor gallery of a two-story display.

At the Outdoor area of the museum, one can see a proud display of fighter jets all lined up, making your heart skip at the thought of flying in one of them.

Visitors are allowed to walk freely, enjoying the sight of these aircraft and can even take pictures.

There are altogether 13 different aircraft’s on display at the museum and along with that, there is an area showcasing some of the engines of these magnificent and wonderful winged creations.

Inside the museum, in the indoor part, there is a display kept for visitors to learn about all the battles that the Naval Air Force of India had to undergo during the past decades and years. The gallery is pretty wide and in-depth, and one can surely learn a lot about the Air Force by taking a walk and admiring the history behind it.

Some of the main things shown in the indoor galleries include military weapons which were attached to ships and submarines. The ‘attire’ or ‘uniforms worn by the members of the Indian Naval Force; One end of the gallery showcases the bombs, torpedoes, and cannons used by the Indan Navy for defense purposes.

The only Naval Aviation Museum of its kind in the whole of Asia.

The outdoor area, of the museum, has a café known as the ‘Cockpit Café’, serving snacks, food, and drinks to visitors who may feel hungry after a long walk at the museum. Eatables are not allowed at the museum, and this place is the only place where one can refresh themselves under the fiery sun at the Naval Museum.  

There is also a souvenir shop at the reception of the entrance to the museum which is well equipped and stocked with a number of takeaways and souvenirs.

The shop has things such as Mugs, T-Shirts, Caps, Key-Chains, Pens, 3-D printed aircraft models and books for you to take back with you home and put up in your homes as a remembrance of what will surely be a memorable experience!

And lastly! Your visit to the museum cannot be complete unless you have been indoors at the mini theater at the Naval museum known as ‘Aviaflix’.

Short movies, documentaries which bring alive the history of Naval aviation, the world of warplanes and other interesting subjects are screened in this theater. The Movie of around 20 minutes duration on Indian Naval Aviation is projected every hour.

The entry fee to visit the museum are Rs. 20/- per head.

For those who want to bring cameras along with them (DSLR) will be charged Rs. 50 per for per person.

From Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm

Closed on every Monday and All National Holidays.

How to get to the Naval Aviation Museum Goa

Visitors can visit the museum by bus, by catching a bus from Vasco da Gama to Bogmalo. You can easily drive to the museum as well. 

The museum is very close (3.7 KM) to the airport. You can pick a cab directly from the airport to see the museum if you feel like it.

The museum is around 30 km away from Panjim and will take approximately an hour to get to it by road.
